Dr. Wong Kam Wai
Dr. Wong Kam Wai is the Associate Professor in the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine. The research field that he engages is about anti-inflammation and anti-cancer. Dr. Wong is also the Deputy Supervisor of the Center for Omics Technology and Innovative Drug Research. Recently, Dr. Wong focuses on research about cancer molecular biology, chemical biology and structural activity relationships, and IKK-NF-B signaling. His latest research is to explore the relationship between autophagy and multidrug-resistance, apoptosis-resistance anti-tumor effect via SERCA inhibition and AMPK activation. Dr. Wong has published over 50 peer-reviewed SCI journals.
Dr. Wong takes part in the identification of the anti-cancer effect of novel ginsenoside and its derivatives, discovery and characterization of novel drug targeting sites of IKK. In addition, he has also discovered the novel IKK-beta inhibitor, novel autophagy enhancer for the treatment of MDR cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. In 2013-2016, Dr. Wong was presented numerous Research Awards and Natural Science Awards. Starting November 2017, Dr. Wong is one of the members of the “EEFIT Biomedicine Research Project in Collaboration with the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine of the People’s Republic of China, Macau University of Science and Technology”.
Starting May 2018, Dr. Wong assumes the position of Molecular Biomedical Consultant in Nick Wang Technology Limited.
